About this

The Past...
www.mellowdrops.com - THE best time of our lives, and in 2008 we finished it with a question "Where do we go from here?". Some of us are in Ireland (like me) and some in New Zealand. We're all moving forward to new things.

This stuff...
So I'll try to blog the current experience of creating music. We're 9 months into a new path and things are promising. I think we're creating a new studio album - strange that I only "think" it after 9 months. We're working hard towards it, but don't want to commit to it being an album. Defining this work as an album would take away some of the enjoyment and relaxation of working on it. In some ways we're being selfish just working on it for ourselves and being self-indulgent, but in many ways we are doing it for others because us humans are social types who like to please others. I guess it's just parallel streams of enjoyment.

Now, how do you get nice MP3 links up here....
I guess this sort of link might do!

Things I hope to talk about...
The contribution of the All-Nighty-Whitey© to everything we create, instruments, production, mixing, recording, arrangement, writing, artwork, evolution of each tune, overall concept and theme, psychology, emotions, disasters we learn from, technical stuff, everything else in our lives, and the all important end result.

  1. EMM Yeah.... i dont think you'll ever write an album if you have too much involvment from other people, ie talking about the mood or direction or the mixing whatever...

Eg .. On a building site you have a foreman and the workers , and then you have the public looking on at what you are building. If the foreman and the workers stopped at evey stage to ask the public if they like what they see or if they can improve things you would never get anything done.
But show them what you've built at the end and most of them will like it.
If you really want their opinion get them to go to " Open Homes " or what we call in the musical industry "Gigs", get their opinions their and bring it back to the site to help go towards work on your next house. The public are not builders and other musicians are just fellow crafts men. They build houses differenty with different methods. You might be able to adopt some of their methods or take a bit of advise but you don't want your house looking the same as theirs do you ?
YOU ARE THE ARCHITECT AND FOREMAN FOR YOUR OWN SONGS DON'T EXPECT ANYONE ELSE TO HELP BUILD YOUR SONGS >> BECAUSE THEY WILL FUCK IT UP.
THIS IS THE GOSPEL ACCORDING TO THE TUNER
